Caduceus Quest is a single-player, role-playing game in which you engage with the scientific method to solve a medical case that has affected the community. You play as Simone: a college student who is home for the summer.
Caduceus Quest was evaluated in a scientific trial conducted by researchers at the University of Chicago to evaluate its effects on young people. Playing Caduceus Quest was shown to increase STEM knowledge, scientific process inventory, self-efficacy and interest in learning and doing science, scientific career interest, and civic engagement. We hope you also enjoy Caduceus Quest!
Infection City is a board game I designed at Game Changer Chicago as part of Hexacago, a set of games teaching systems perspectives in public health and reproductive justice.
Intended for use in high school classrooms, Infection City enlists its most treacherous player as an insidious infection and the rest as a team of epidemiologists defending the city of Chicago. The game asks its players to think about the distribution of resources on a city level—from the perspective of both doctors and the disease—and strategize around an infection spread pattern playing out in real time.
Hearsay is a card game I designed at Game Changer Chicago as part of Hexacago, a set of games teaching systems perspectives in public health and reproductive justice.
We made Hearsay for high school sex ed classrooms to prompt discussions about birth control and safer sex as part of everyday life. Taking turns, players tell a story about a randomly chosen protagonist in their first year of college, weaving together the characters, events, and feelings they’ve been dealt. Winning the game entails maneuvering to place yellow cards into the narrative, each of which describes a form of contraception or STD prevention, including PrEP, IUDs, condoms, and abstinence.
Prognosis is an accessible city management game about diagnosing and treating a city by allocating a handful of skilled professionals to troubled regions.
